I was placing an order for other stuff and noticed these for just over a buck a round.  I added a few boxes to my cart on an impulse.  How will these do as a defensive round?

Any issues with using these in shorter barrels (10.5-11.5)?

I see the Barnes TSX bullet highly recommended around here. I guess the next question is how hot does federal load them? Chronograph them and you can compare to other tests done with the Barnes bullet loaded by other manufacturers
