So I have a home built AR that was originally a 16” voodoo barrel carbine gas, BCM bcg, vltor mur1 upper, with a psa lpk, including a carbine buffer/spring. Which I ran for several years and thousands of rounds, brass, steel, “match” whatever it ran it all. No issues.

I recently decided to update the rifle with a 13.9” BA mid length gas barrel, and a geissele g42 spring and h2 buffer. This rifle is intended to be ran suppressed with a dead air sandman s. (Still in nfa jail)

I’m having an issue where when I use wolf gold (brass case 55gr “m193 allegedly”) it doesn’t kick the spent case out before it shoves a fresh round in, the case gets out of the chamber then gets smashed into the top of the barrel extension.

It only seems to happen with wolf gold; Winchester m855, frontier 55gr, PMC m855 all run fine and have a consistent 4 o’clock ejection.

What do y’all recommend I start troubleshooting? I can knock the buffer down to an h1 pretty easy if that’s the problem.

Swap the super 42 for a mil-spec carbine spring and H buffer.

I think that ammo is short on gas. Just enough to pull the casing but doesn't throw it clear before grabbing the next round and returning to battery. It will probably run fine with a can. Not entirely a surprise with that configuration. That's a pretty short barrel for mid length gas... lacks dwell time. Less buffer could help.
