I have an A2 upper with a barrel with a F marked front sight post, what kind of front sight post would I need to zeros at 50 yards? Would I need a .040 taller front sight post?

No, the standard front sight post should be more than enough.

You should be good to go. Especially on a carbine.

The F FSB was made for flat top receivers. But it’s also needed on A1/A2 carbines due to the shorter sight radius.

If it's actually F-height and not just F-marked; rifle length - standard post shall be below flush with the deck. Carbine length - flush.
