I’m installing this on the rail of a Colt and do you torque it tight only?

Needs blue Loctite and the correct torque to be trusted that it won't come loose... One of the things that's just a pain in the ass with Mlok stuff.

@556Cliff

I have a torque wrench.  Do you know offhand what ? foot-lbs it has to be tightened?

I would go around 25 inch pounds for that particular mount as long as the handguard/mounting slot is aluminum.

Magpul actually lists 35 inch pounds >here< though it seems like a bit too much to me.

Hopefully someone with more Mlok experience will chime in.

Yes, @556Cliff, it’s aluminum.  Thank you!

That qd mount will have loctite already on the threads. We just installed them on my boy’s rifles.

Use a traditional L shaped Allen wrench and get it as tight as you can while holding the short end.

You must mean Nylok. That's the dry polymer antivibration patch that Magpul has applied on all their screws. In that case no liquid thread locker is needed, and I actually oil those Nylok screws to make them a bit easier to install.

Keep in mind, Nylok screws are intended to be one time use. The problem is that replacements are not so easy to get most of the time.
