I've seen magazine pull tabs made from zip ties, paracord & duct tape.  While they look good for pulling the magazine from a pouch, the hanging loop looks like it would snag/catch on everything in actual field use.  As a fun project for the budget minded, what's your experience & method of choice for DIY mag pull tabs?

Magpuls....

I've tried all that... 90PMH tape...zip ties.. paracord...

It's the reason Magpul invented the magpul...

They work great and the added benefit is they protect the mags from drops on hard surfaces.

I'll never go back to anything else.

550 cord is my preferred method. Used them for years in the infantry and never had the loop do any more snagging than the host of other things carried or attached to my gear or rifle,

Used to use 550 cord but I've noticed I never grab it by the 550 cord.  Still grab the sides of the magazine.  So I use nothing.

There is this. I never really used the pulls quite so much when we used the ALICE deuce gear, occasionally but not universally. Now those early LBV systems, I used them to get the mags out of the tight pouches. The newer MOLLE stuff, just grab the mags and load.

Never found the need for pull tabs.

I've never used the Magpuls in the standard loop configuration.

I've always rotated them, so the loop covers the entire bottom floor plate. It gives a good spot to  pinch the mag on the sides and  not slip out of you hands and it protects the mag from a drop onto the hard deck like concrete.

People were using 90mph tape and 550 cord, in the woods, for decades before Magpul made some from rubber that worked better than the 90mph tape versions.

The 550 cord loop didn't help me since I never needed to use it to pull a mag from a pouch. I never actually found any of them to be useful for me since my mags always slipped from the pouch pretty easily. Maybe if wearing extremely thick gloves? The Magpul were not anymore useful to me either so I went back to nothing.
