Is the current ARMY backup iron still the matech and the USMC the KAC 200-600? I know .mil are going with the NGSW platform in 6.8 but are they changing the iron's to something else for the current 5.56mm platform?

Ive been reading that the matech detent fails and causes the iron sight to flip up on its own. I haven't ready any negative about the KAC. It seems like the goto is the KAC 200-600?

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Standard issue rear BUIS is the Matech. The flip up iron is held down by a little nub of metal. As it wears down it will release the sight when the weapon is shot.

In before “a Velocity trigger would go really good with your back up iron sites”.

I’ll believe the Army is going to 6.8 when they actually start issuing rifles...

They just replace the MATECH with a new one.  It’s the gov, they just buy more.
