I had a red dot (different brand) that though pretty much new, started shutting off on every shot during a recent range trip.  That company recently exited the firearms optics business so we’ll see on repair/replace options.

In the interim, I picked up a Vortex Crossfire RD-2.  Shuffling optics, it landed on the wife’s rifle (which is a pretty LW build at  5.8-lbs. with previous optic & empty mag).

After mounting, I cranked the Crossfire up to line it up with the rifles BUIS.  In std. indoor lighting I had to crank it up to 9 (of 11) before it was useable.  Is this normal?  10 & 11 are pretty nuclear, but first 8 settings (understood NV on 1 & 2) are a waste.

Anyone have the same experience?  No issue reaching out to Vortex if it’s an actual problem.

needs a new battery.

I have one of the older ones as well as one of the new ones with NV settings. in normal daytime sunlight shooting I think I have it on setting 5 or 6.

even in bright sunlight if I turn it all the way up its blindingly bright.

I stuffed in a new Energizer (usually toss whatever comes in most optics).  I'll try another though.
