Greetings all!

The SOPMOD block II thread states that the correct front BUIS is a "Knight's Armament flip-up BUIS" in either black or flat dark earth.

Can anyone confirm if this is the correct one? https://shop.knightarmco.com/ProductsList.aspx?CategoryID=-2&txtSearch=69

They don't seem to make it in flat dark earth, but the "taupe" one is a tannish color, so I think that might be it?  I want to get that one so it matches the color of the DD rail.

Related question, assuming that is the correct model and color... anyone know the best place to buy one?  I've found a few places, but you guys likely know where to get the best deals...

Thanks!

Yeah I linked to that in my post, no need to repeat it. If you don’t want to answer my question, there’s no need to reply.

Thanks anyway!

Yeah the proper name for the color is Taupe. The black one is also correct for the block 2 though. So either one will work fine

The Taupe ones vary in color significantly.  To my knowledge, none of them match the Ris II in FDE.  They are clone correct, though.

Cheapest place is probably EE.

Or you can go with a Matech.  They're cheaper even at list price.

No BUIS is correct too and cheaper.

Not to my knowledge.

I was assuming a fixed front sight, not sure what the official answer is for folding front and rear BUIS.

Kac is the front sight.
Matech, KAC, or none is rear.

If you really want to get Nerd correct
You have to decide what time frame and what Branch

Block II:
Matech rear with Knights front or FSP for Army
The Knights 300m rear was a SOPMOD Block I era sight for Army
Just some found there way onto Block II rifles. But they stopped being issued since 2005ish
Since 2010 its been all Matech (for Army)

Unless you are going Marine or Navy then
Knights 600m rear.

KAC 600M rear super popular with cloners because they are cheap and plentiful online.

Arms rear sight was late Block 1 era purchased to fill gap of not enough KAC 300m
and the dislike of the too simple 300m rear.
initially came on guns like MK12.

I did not know some of this, great info thanks for sharing.

Now where the heck can one find a taupe KAC front right now?  I've been staring at the EE waiting for one to pop up.

No, mine is a "current" block II SOPMOD, with no front sight post.  I think only the original ones had those, as stocks of barrels were used up.

BLOCK II FSP stayed around as unit issue until 2015
It was not matter of barrels with FSP getting used up
It just took SOCOM that long to get uppers with RISII non-FSP out to everyone.

Just like currently their are more URG-1 clones than are issued ones.
Most SF have yet to see anything new in 2018.

@Stukas87

Just to clarify. What’s the correct rear for Marine block II say 2008-2012ish? And would that be the same for the CQBR?

I don't know, I just know Army never got KAC 600m sights

I bet Matech or the KAC 600m
1st CQBR had fixed rear perhaps LMT

Its the KAC 600. As well as the PEQ-16B for most, instead of the LA-5. They do have some LA-5s too tho

MARSOC Block II would have KAC 600m BUIS and KAC 99051 front sites.  Flash hinder would be KAC NT4.  This was when I served their guns in Iraq late 15-16.

Another point Army SF does use the KAC 600m BUIS as that is the only replacement BUIS that I have in inventory to replace with in Iraq/Afghanistan (14' thru present)

99051 taupe, at times I receive them black.

Attachment Attached File

Barrels Colt 14.5" Govt or SOCOM profile with FSB, Colt 14.5" Govt or FN SOCOM without FSB
Colt 10.3" (Crane cut down Colt Govt profile) or FN 10.3" SOCOM profile are used on URG for all services.  The new URGI will have a 14.5" Govt profile but mid length gas.  All others above carbine length gas.
