Does anyone have any idea if there is a comprehensive book on the Colt AR-15?  I have the "AR-15/M16 Sourcebook", "The Black Rifle", and "Colt an American Legend". And those are great for what they are. But they don't get into the various markings found on Colts, how the parts looked and how they changed over the years. There are bits an pieces all over the internet, but nothing that gets into the minutiae.
Even a book that gets into the other major manufacturers would be great.

I haven't found a thing! Is there anything?

I have a copy on order of Larry Vickers AR15 Volume 1 second edition. According to the video and website the second edition has been expanded a great deal with quite a bit more coverage. Supposed to ship in October. Check out the Vickers Guide website.

I also have the 2nd edition on order, I remember reading somewhere that the LV books has some info on the Chinese guns. Is that in Vol. 1 or 2?

Pretty sure Volume 2 covers foreign built guns and other variants.

Don't have my copy yet or a first edition of Volume 1 so I can't say. However I've been told they are considered the best in regards to those kinds of details.
