I have a like new Colt 6720 I want to sell. I bought it new and only fired it less than 10 rounds. A potential buyer wanted photos of the bolt and carrier. I could not find a C stamped on the bolt carrier. Did these rifles come without C marked bolt carriers ? What should the bolt markings be ??? Thanks

Not all carriers are/were marked.

Bolt markings should be MPC

This. My lightweight was new in the sealed box. No marking on the carrier, MPC on the bolt in a dot matrix font.

My 6920 with the older restricted markings has MPC on the bolt

Colt has used a variety of markings on their bolts.

And fwiw, I got a legit 6921ck upper that had a C carrier and no markings on the bolt.

Edit:  this was 2015 time frame when I got this.

I got 2 Colt factory CK conversion kits complete upper half last year and another conversion kit in 2019 also 2 Colt auto bolt carriers last year and they all had the "C" letter marks on the carriers, they had smaller font size than the older Colt carriers.

The only Colt auto carrier that didn't have a C mark that I have was the one I bought in 2016.

If you wish you could just get a new Colt auto carrier with the C mark, it depends if your buyer demands the marking.

As others said, not all carriers were marked.  Some were marked so lightly you have to REALLY search for it.

All bolts should be marked MPC

Pics aren't showing up.  Is it a MP A marked bolt?  I vaguely remember seeing one of those in a CR marked 6920.

Hmmm.  I just checked two different computers and the pics are showing up on both of them.  Anyone else not seeing the pics from my above post?

Btw
The first 2 bolts have the extra character for the mfg date code

This.^^^

MPXC = the X is a mfg date code.

Also, page 299 of the Black Rifle II shows an example and states the following:

"Phosphated bolt manufactured by Colt during 2001, Marked with a large "C" to indicate that it was intended for Commercial sale".

“Should” be marked.  Stated above, I got a legit one that wasn’t marked at all.

There was a rash of unmarked Colt bolts inside the last ~year.

I handled 2 CR6920s local that had zero markings on carriers/bolts.

I can see them now.

ETA: they were a broken box icon before.  My connection was slow yesterday.
