Yes when colt was doing international sales in the 90’s the shells getting caught in the pocket was common enough to warrant a fix so the early ones had a spacer in them in order to fix it. They then redid the buffer some time later.

This is not an issue on the semis only the autos.

The spacer keeps the bolt from over traveling and breaking the bolt catch when it slams forward...

/\/\/\ THIS!  You don't need the spacer if you use a buffer designed for 9mm that is 5/8" - 3/4" longer than a .556 buffer.  A 9mm one needs to be a lot heavier; the longer one will also help with that.

This is the buffer and spacer from a 635 kit I sold last year. It’s just a rubber bumper.

It’s made of a rubber with similar density to the standard buffer bumpers.

I have no idea where to find them. That’s the only one I’ve ever seen IRL.

You could fabricate one easy enough out of rubber.

you can also just stack half a dozen quarters in the end of the buffer tube - does the same thing

$15 for a store bought, or $1,50 for 6 quarters...seems like a no brainer...
