I just started this project, so it has a long way to go. I started with a full fence A2 lower. I milled away the fence and I will reprofile as best as I can by hand. The upper is a blem, the barrel, well, can't remember where I got it. I made the handguard from PVC schedule 40, still need to take some more material off. I am waiting on the material to build the stock. so in the meantime I just stuck whatever I had on it. Cut the grip from an old A1 grip. More to come...Bill

Awesome! Plan on profiling the front takedown lugs to the A1 profile as well?

This is awesome to see, re-profiling lowers is quickly becoming a lost art.

My 608 stalled years ago at the stamp/barrel stage.

went digging through my stock of stocks and found these that are 608 worthy

for an A2 version I'd probably just bolt this on

Thx a lot.... this got me thinking about a 608 again as a AR pistol maybe using a resculped blade brace on a rifle length buffer tube?

I have a couple of extra 608 stocks laying around somewhere. At one point I was going to share on EE and the guy complained the welds sucked. I explained that they were one off copies of one off tool room parts that had less then perfect welds... he seemed to miss the point of what we used to do here in retro land...

I would be game! I thought I was done making retro rifles but if you are interested in selling a stock or trading for retro parts please let me know via email.

Hello, I'd also really like to buy a stock in order to play around with 3D prints. Please email if you're down to part with one!

One way to do a Colt 608 without a tax stamp is to add something to the barrel length to make it 16 inches.

I know it doesnt look quite right but can still be done.

I used a polish DP-28 cone flash hider welded to the barrel to bring the length up, long cone shaped hider works well and saves a "stamp".

Also used a cut down slip ring for the front of the handguard to fit the carbon fiber tube that i used, instead of trying to reduce the front diameter to fit a standard round handguard holder.

Have to figure out the picture thing to post a shot.

Last time I talked to Moack or such he was going to do another run of stocks and flash hiders just lacked a little funding to best of memory.  Lost e-mail / contact information or deleted for message space.  Think he was talking 40 or 50 total.   Was more than I wanted to deal with.  Might be worth a check as even with inflated retro it didn't sound like he was that out of line. Was just shooting out numbers to best of recollection.

I've actually seen a real one from Colt employee collection, being the complete upper with barrel assembly, HG only,   basically shortie with a cone FH..   Brought $1500 back when retro complete upper assembly less BCG / CH were $300-400.  Don't really remember any details.  Never seen a lower but buyer had an authentic full auto lower he said was going to put it on.  Talked with him for a second or two.  People bidding on it knew what it was and I only knew from retroblackrifle, site what I had read and pics.

I was just thinking I could draw up and print a pistol brace that looks like the 608 stock.

You would need to use a pistol tube and carbine buffer. I pretty sure the rifle receiver extension would make your length of pull over 13" and negate the pistol classification.

Not clone correct but certainly would look bitchin!

OP, what cone is that and where did you get it?

Was there any provision to keep it locked in the proper orientation or did they just tighten the crap out of the screw?

I have never seen that particular configuration. Where did yo see it?

Looks like I was wrong.

This brace on a rifle tube will still be short enough to qualify as a pistol!

How does the shape look to y'all?

Based off this pic.

Does everyone prefer the sling slot like this?

Version 2.

Anyone have an original 608 stock and can give me a couple of dimensions?

I’m digging this thing. Very minimalistic.

Bigrix, there were two versions I believe. One had an offset screw hole to prevent rotation, and one was just centered. The UncleMoak ones are centered. That's awesome, I've been meaning to do a print for years but never got around to it. Specifically, for a featureless build.
