Do not know if this is the right forum section for this but I have searched for a square staking punch for the receiver extension castle nut/ end plate to replicate Colt- no luck Bought a Colt 6920 that previous owner replaced the end plate with a Magpul ASP- trying to put it back to original condition with proper staking. Thought about grinding a round punch into a square punch. Any recommendations would be helpful- thanks.

In an armorer course they said the factory square staking was from some kind of hydraulic deal with a jig.

I bought a square tip punch at ACE Hardware, perfectly fits into a Colt stake. Haven't tried it yet though.

There was a guy who used the "c" from a 1/8" letter/number set and everyone was convinced it was the "Colt Approved" punch. It actually looked pretty good and the square portion above the raised letter fit perfectly.

I took a punch, grounded it so it was square, slightly rectangular actually and it works like a champ.
