I thought it interesting that it’s marked .223  — most that I’ve seen say 5.56 instead. I’ve wondered whether that indicates maybe an older version, or maybe something intended for civilian sale.

I've got a bunch of old 20's with metal followers. Was buying them at pawn shops off Ft Bragg back in the '80s for $1-$2 each. Probably have 40-50 of them.

I powdercoated a bunch of them OD and some black with urethane based powder as the finishes on most of them eere predominantly that goldish color from the gray being worn away.

223 were early mags.
“Early Air Force contract 20 round. Circa 1963-1968. Earliest had bright alloy followers, later manufacture had dull followers. Scarce. Marked "Colt Pt. Mfg. Co. Inc." w/prancing pony and "CAL. .223" on floorplate.”

I like 20 round for safe keeping. Decent amount and don't protrude. Military pmag and Lancer.
