Always liked the idea of a piston conversion, but never really thought of a reason to install one on a perfectly functioning rifle that I shoot once every 2 or 3 years. But now that I am building a silencer on a Form 1, it got me thinking about the gas in the face issue I have read about. Especially since I am planning on doing a lot more shooting now.
OK, cool. I found a nifty charge handle with a shroud that deflects the gas. But then I read about the gas blowing through the bolt which exits through the upper opening and is very loud itself.
Bingo! Did I just find a valid reason to buy a conversion? If I’ve got to spend $100 on a fancy charge handle and possibly another $175 on an adjustable bolt, why not just remove the gas from the upper all together?
Are the piston kits adjustable for use with a silencer?
Is my thinking on the right track? Any advise on a conversion that would work best with a silencer?
