I am interested in a doing a AR build (not sure if pistol or rifle yet) with a FSB (Front sight base) that is fixed to the barrel.
I also want a free float handguard.

What should I be looking for to archieve this look?

I think some free float handguards have a notch in the top to allow the FSB to stick through. However, I like the look when the rail is only "behind" the FSB and not a little piece in front of the FSB
Not sure what "style" or name these handguards are called?

Obviously barrel length will impact how this works..
but I would either go 16" rifle
or
10.5-11.5 pistol build - but I haven't seen many barrels in this length with a FSB

Could I buy a complete upper with a "regular" MOE hanguard and FSB and swap it out... such as a PSA upper.... or just better to build from scartch as it typically is?

Any input is welcomed. I want a certain "look" with this build to make it different than others.
Thanks!

EDIT:
Here is a picture of the look I am after:

If the barrel already has a pinned FSB installed you will need to remove the FSB to install most free float hand guards on the market.  There are tutorials on this site on the mechanics of doing that.  The other option is a two piece hand guard that drops in like the Daniel Defense Omega.

There are some drop in free float rails, you would be able to remove a plastic handguard and install the rail.  The Daniel Defense Omega is one of them.

That’s what I used on one of my rifles.

Yes, the picture in the origial post in that thread I have seen and is the look I am after!

Your rifle looks great as well?
What length gas system are you running? ... and how long is your handguard?
Can you post more pictures with how it fits around the front fixed sight?
Thanks!

Centurion rails are pretty difficult to find right now, the EE would likely be your best bet.

You will have to cut your delta ring off in order to use one, FYI. My rifle is mid length, the handguard is 9”, I can get more pics later.

Handguard length depends on gas system, carbine, midlength, rifle.
Those are typically 7, 9 and 12 inches behind the FSB.

Some, like the Midwest Two Piece free float use the OEM barrel nut, no need to remove the FSB.
Others, you need to remove the FSB, install the Handguard, then reattach the FSB.

A properly pinned FSB will use taper pins.
You'll need a hammer (from the correct side) to get it loose.
The taper pins will realign the FSB when you reattach it.
You will have to sight it in again.
