Looking for a new or lightly used piece of glass for my 16” carbine. In regards to magnification I am wanting either 1-6 x or 2-7 x 32.  As far as prices I need to stay as close to or preferably under $100. Considering
Osprey
Vortex
Primary Arms
Bushnells AR series
I know even anther $50 would provide more options but just can not afford any more $ at this time. I would however appreciate any insight into this question so hopefully I only do this once

Honestly your best bet is to just get proficient with iron sights for now and save up some cash in the meantime. I dont know of any LPVO for $100. I think around $275 for the primary arms 1-6 is kinda the base.

This.   You could probably watch and find something used in the $250 range that would serve you for years.   If you buy something like a Barska, the performance will be terrible and the resale will be nonexistent.  You could probably snag a used red dot within your price range.  A used Sig, or Holosun, or Vortex SparcAr.... or something like that.   Would be your best bet for around $100.  Watch the EE for something like that in your price range.

dont buy a 1x6 for that cheap.

I would just use irons and wait

Maybe find a use vortex or leaupold 2-7

Everybody above me is right.   Any glass that cheap will not last or work properly.

Nikon 1.5-4x for $99

It's a good vendor and will be the best scope you will get for $100. It will be a serviceable scope.

I was going to recommend the same Nikon optic.  Nikon is getting out of the rifle scope business and their optics are being sold at good prices.  A friend has that 1.5-4 optic on his AR-15 and I was surprised how good it was for the price.  You can get some good buys on one piece mounts at Brownell’s and Midway for less than $100.

Yea wrong item to put such a strict budget on. I'd say a red dot is your best bet in that price range.

Lpvo or any vpo is a very complex set of glass And one of the few things that you really get what you pay for.

I'm going to side with those that have suggested saving up more money and using irons while doing so. It's win win really.

I wouldn't waste $100 on a variable optic.

Look around to see if you can find a Weaver V3.  It's not a 1-4 but a 1-3x20.  It's one of my favorite budget LVPOs.  They don't make them anymore but when they did they were around 180ish new.  Capped turrets, easy to adjust magnification and 8 ozs where as most 1-4s weigh in around 1lb.

If you do some digging you may still be able to find one in stock somewhere or find one used on the EE or one of the various auction sites.

Thanks to all for the input. I will do a little research on the Nikon and Weaver scopes that were mentioned and also study the red dot choices a little more before making a decision

At that price, I would probably look into a red dot instead.  The Sig Romeo5 can be bought new for $120.  Might be able to find a used one for less.  I bought a new in box one for $50 several months ago, I'm happy with it.

I will say though, I've seen a used Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x for $150.  Might keep an eye out for one of those.  I don't think you'll find one for $100 though.

My budget is higher than that. Any one pre order a Primary Arms SLx 1-8x24FFP Rifle Scope - Illuminated ACSS-RAPTOR-5.56/5.45/.308 would like to know what others think.

I guess that depends on what you want to do with it.  I'm aware of 1 option from Primary Arms that's 1-6x that's about $120.00  The reticle is pretty basic, but the reviews for it seem to be positive.

You'll still need a mount for it though, if you do not currently own one.  That's another $20 - $50 for some of the lower priced mounts.

I only have experience with Primary Arms Optics, not any of the others you listed.

There is some solid lpvo for $100. To get a good one though you give up illumination and tactical fancies.

The choices everyone above is good. The bushnell AR 1-4 is around $120 and recommended by mrgunsngear.

And the vortex crossfire 1-4 is pretty good and can find them around that $150.

A LONG time ago (15 years or so?) I got a Simmons White Tail Classic 6.5-20x50 massive scope for $100ish.  Awesome glass, they also had a smaller 3.5-10x50.

Well, I was looking around Midways site and saw the WTC line is back and expanded.  They now have a 1-4x20 for $70 that looks VERY interesting, if the quality is anywhere close to what they were when discontinued 10 years ago it will be a great buy, consider it "inexpensive" and not "cheap".

Might be better to look at 2.5-4x prismatic scopes if your budget is that tight.

I have a Burrs AR-332 I got used for 150 on a beater and that's a good little optic.
