Just trying to dodge the archive fee on this one.

Saw several surplus turn-in AR15's yesterday and wondered from what agency they may have come.

Standard Colt stuff such missing dust cover and M16 Staked bolt carrier but all the fore grips are painted blue and the front sight has a designation such at "T-19" in Silver paint.

Anybody recognize the description?

Usually blue parts distinguishes simmunitions rifles, but they usually use a blue BCG as well. Weird that they were Colts but had no dust covers.

Without pics I have no clue.

Yes, Blue furniture usually means Simunition Training rifles.

I see this is your first post!

A belated welcome to the forums!

I too would guess designated sim guns maybe dust covers jammed that first case on some? Maybe stealing them to use on other real world carbines in the armory?

Id buy one if the price was right.

Probably took dust covers off to be able to visually determine the presence of the blue simunition BCG at all times.

Maybe they had a blue simunition bolt while in use as training rifles, but had their original bolts put back in to sell as functioning rifles?

Here is the same thing. Trade in 6920
"Police Department Trade in Colt AR-15 16" 5.56 NATO carbine.  Another Large batch of rifles.  These will all show wear from normal duty use.  Expect a natural "battle worn" finsih.  Overall good condition.  Rifles features a 16" M4 barrel, A2 front Sight and pistol grip, M4 stock, carbine length handguard, Sling Swivel under Front Sight, "H" Buffer and flat top upper receiver.  Rifles feature the "Colts Law Enforcement Carbine" rollmark on the lower receiver. About half of these rifles have had their handguards spray painted blue.  All are missing Ejection Port Door Assembly.  No Hand Select."

Very nice. Just need a dust cover and an M4 RAS and you’re set. Just a tad overpriced for being LE trade ins IMO tho.

Being a dedicated simunition gun could be they are either shot out or they may have never had a real bullet down the tube. Hell, even the Army doesn't use dedicated sim guns. I'd be in if just for the parts.

Likely this. UTM kits have a feature that prevents you from even closing the port cover.

I think Sim brand allows you to close the dust cover but yea that's an issue, the force on force brand & UTM bolts don't allow the dust cover to close when they are present. The "T-19" is probably a rack number, T = training.
