This.  Plus old tooth brush, short cleaning rod with large-caliber patches.

CLP,Simple Green HD and a GI brush is all that’s needed to clean a bolt

Go there ^^^. They have several tools specifically made for AR15 maintenance. I have most all of them and they work very well.

That being said, after a shooting session I use an ultrasonic cleaner and then rinse and airhose it dry. Re-lube and go back to shooting.

I use pipe cleaners, CLP, and a dental pick.

All the tools I’ve used CAT and Otis do not do a good job cleaning the carbon off the inner walls of the carrier. They aren’t bad with carbon off the bolt tail though and the ring inside the carrier.

This.  You could use more, but it's probably unnecessary.

Carbon inside the carrier and on bolt tail usually has to scraped. A steel cleaning rod section does a fair job of removing it from both areas. I use dull blade utility knife on the bolt and cleaning rod or small flat-tip screwdriver inside the carrier if carbon is bad. Never have used any of the specialized tools for that purpose, so won’t comment.

General cleanup is GP brush, pipe cleaners and mineral spirits; lube with CLP.
