What are some of your opinions on best bang for your buck stock but also something that is good quality?

If talking about an adjustable stock for an AR platform rifle, I absolutely love the Hogue Overmolded stocks.  Their stocks and grips go on every rifle I have.

Now...  If you're looking for a stock for your Winchester 100, I can't help you.

I personally, have never put a stock on a buck.

Yes, could be read "bang for buck" stock, but I totally read it as you're trying to put a stock on a buck.

Colt &/or USGI from EE.

The bcm gunfighter

Tight fit, milspec only. Adjustment is a little awkward at first but you get used to it. $50

The mission first tactical minimalist.

Feels cheap at first. But honestly, it’s a solid stock that shoulders well even fully collapsed. Also about $50

Colt Mil-Spec M4 stock can usually be had for around $40.00

Another one I really like is a VLTOR IMOD, a bit more money, but it is really nice, usually around $70-80

Do you have any experience with stocks? Do you like cheek rest on the stock? Adjustable or fixed? Lots of good options out there.

Not a fan of collapsing stocks.

For regular full rifle length, I like the basic A2 stock and if you want to get fancy/cool looking, the Doublestar ARFX.  Yes, even on a 16" barreled carbine.

I have been thinking about shorter and more compact though.  Forunately, you can get "entry length" (about what a carbine is closed all the way) A2 style stocks.  Oh,and the ARFX offering of "entry length".  Oh, and Magpul makes a fixes collapsing-looking stock.

Magpul? Any of them?

Kinda been an industry staple for the last decade.

Magpul SL for me, it just works well.  I’ve tried at least 12 different stocks and it’s my favorite for a regular duty rifle.

M4 waffle

For me... Enhanced SOPMOD.

Bang for the buck? One of the Magpul locking.

The B5 contract SOPMOD Enhanced stocks are great stocks and (before all this panic) were about $60.

Also always been a fan of military waffle stocks.  They're super simple and just plain work.

Magpul, B5, MFT, etc ...just depends on what you're looking for and personal preferences.

I like most of the Magpul models, and have a B5 Bravo that I find comfortable, also an A1 length fixed stock.

I like the LaRue Rat Stock for a low buck upgrade over stock, they are $39 on sale.  Slightly better cheek weld, decent lock on the standard tube.

USGI type/Colt stocks work, work well, well proven and plentiful.

If you want a step up from the USGI, I think the Magpul MOE is hard to beat, especially considering the price.  I've owned the MOE SL, Bravo B5, and fondled the Bravo Gunfighter and I've switched over for the most part to the MOE.  My second favorite is probably the MOE SL, but more for a AR with a scope.

Magpul is several steps down from USGI.

Especially if you look into R&D.

Really, several steps down compared to an M4 waffle?  I don’t see that at all.  Nothing wrong with the waffle as long as you don’t care about rattle or cheek weld.  It works, is “Bubba proof”,  but can stand improvement.

While heavy, for my precision Recce, I chose the Magpul ASC because of its excellent cheek weld, solid, rattle free locking and the balance it’s extra weight provided for my nose-heavy Recce profile 16” barrel.

The STR is the same cheek weld, but a couple ounces lighter.

The CTR is hugely popular for good reason for its light weight and solid lockup.  Cheek risers In several heights are available for it.

Magpul stocks are just as “Bubba proof” and offer a wide range of beneficial choices.

When the end user is given a choice, chances are high the waffle will get ditched in favor of something else.

Strike Industries MOD1.

$50 from them and you can usually find them a bit cheaper (~$45) elsewhere.

If you already have an M4, adding the CAA saddle and a limb saver pad is a nice setup.

But for a few bucks more the CTR does the same and also has a limb saver pad option.

I’ll also give a thumbs up to my Fab Defense GLCore stock. I put one on an AK with a side mounted scope that sat high and added the Fab Def adjustable riser, that setup works well.

I’m also running A2 length Hogue & ACE skeleton stocks on builds that don’t need adjustable stocks that I’d highly recommend as well.

Probably ought to figure out if you want a nice saddle for a good cheek weld or something slim. Need storage? Adjustable or no? QDsling mount?
