New to piston systems for ar-15s, and want to convert my current DI ar to a gas piston system so what is the best piston parts kit for 5.56?

you need to consider whether you're going with a free float rail, or drop in handguards.  some kits are barrel-nut sensitive.

I had an easy time building a from-scratch AR using a piston kit from Superlative Arms. Functions well on the Aero-Precision M4E1 upper/lower I used with a Roscoe barrel. Reliable and maintenance free (or more accurately maintenance-minimal).

You would need to check with the company website if the rails are compatible with the GP system you want to get.
