Found a good deal on a crimson trace 1-5x24 LPVO. But I can find very little info out there about them.  In general it looks good.  Japanese glass and manufacturing, ffp, mil/mil, capped adjustments, and based on the diagrams I like the reticle. Big outer circle with t-mil scale and illuminated dot.  Definitely don't want to waste money if they have major known issues.  Does anyone have any experience good or bad?  I'd really like to see an actual picture of the reticle at 1x and/or 5x...  Thanks in advance

Just recently purchased a few of their Weapon Lights for a couple of builds I finished, and saw they had a couple of these scopes at one of my LGS, and the reticle caught my attention. I got to look through it, and really liked it for what it is, but no actual hands on experience with it on a rifle. But for the money they are asking much more reputable brands, and optics on the market of the same if not better quality, and proven durability for the same price, if not lower. Does not mean there is anything wrong with, but for that price, and lack of review, I will go with the know over unknown. Just my .02 Cents though.

There was a thread on these not long ago... If I remember correctly, folks were not impressed. I think a few actually sent them back.

The big problem was that they’re not daylight bright if I remember.

I think this is the thread the above posters are referencing

https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/Crimson-Trace-1-4x24-FFP/18-745955/

Note, it's about the 1-4x version, so read through to see if the problem carries over throughout the rest of the lineup.

I'd suggest this as an alternative. Ffp, daylight BRIGHT, made by low japan, 17.7 ounces, red and green illumination choices.

https://www.natchezss.com/weaver-tactical-rifle-scope-1-5x24mm-sf-illum-cirt-reticle-matte-black.html

I have 2, very pleased with them. $499.49 and free shipping as of this post.

The Scrooge in me is interested in this. Any pics showing the illumination in daylight?

Last I’ve read on them is they are jap glass and not daylight “bright” ... visible and bright being subjective ... found a video on the 1-8 ... about 1:25 into it you can see the reticle

CT 1-8

Holy crap is trying to take the picture of a reticle with a smartphone and have it look anything like what you see impossible.

Green 1x

Red 1x

Red 5x

Green 5x

Green washes out easily, but red is still very visible and the reticle at 1x (and all other magnifications) is actually much larger in real life.

Hope these pics don't actually make things worse!

Definitely not easy. I've only ever done it with an unmounted scope too. I could imagine on a gun would be a lot harder.

In retrospect, i probably should've cleaned the sliding glass door if not the rest of the sight picture first.

I will say that when I take reticle pics with my iPhone, yes it’s much easier NOT mounted... and the reticle illumination is always slightly dimmer in the pics from my iphone by about 10-20%

Thanks for the info on the weaver.  It does look like a great scope and sounds like good deals too.

On the Crimson Trace 1-5, I went ahead and ordered one.  The site that I found them on sale, discounted them even more and I couldn't resist just to try it out.  I got it for $500 shipped.  They still have some available at that price if anyone is interested.  I got it from Adorama, which is a well known retailer for cameras and optics but not affiliated with this site so I won't post the link. My first purchase from them, so we'll see how it goes.

I figure for $500 shipped, Jap glass and manufacturing, FFP, mil/mil, and a reticle that looks promising (based on my preferences) its worth the gamble... and I can probably get most of my money out by re-selling if I hate it.

I'll post some info here when I get it and try it out

Whats the warranty on the CT?
Link Posted: 5/29/2020 1:04:34 PM EDT
[#16]
Warranty is "Full Lifetime"

From their website:

"CTC warrants that its riflescope products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the products. This lifetime warranty is transferable to any owner of the covered products. Under CTC’s full lifetime warranty, CTC will repair or replace with an item of equivalent value, at its option, any covered product or component part which is found to be defective under normal use and service, without charge, and within a reasonable amount of time after notification and delivery of the covered product (as set forth below), for the lifetime of the covered products."
