Thanks, I’m in on that thread.  I was hoping to get a little more exposure here from people that don’t browse the industry section that may have an early rifle.

For reference, this would be rifles purchased around the 2014-2015 time frame, I don’t think the public saw them in 2013 yet.

@Postal0311 Thanks for the pic.

Anyone have one with a serial lower than CAR0037xx?

As I said in the other thread, I have CAR 00011x but it is an AR15-A4 Lightweight 6720.

Thanks, I am looking for the 20” rifles.

For anyone interested, I have a pic of serial CAR002898.  Where I got the pic from (thread on ARF) said it was a rifle in the Colt booth at a shot show, 2016.

That rifle has “AR-15A4” engraved on the lower where every other one I have seen is stamped (except the current production ones).  I’m trying to figure out if that was a preproduction that Colt kept and toted around to shows or any of the early rifles shipped out to the public with the “engraving” on it.

Yeah I know, Colt fan-bois are weird.

I’m thinking the first AR15-A4 were the lightweight carbine 6720s from Clyde’s. The 20” version shares the SN range with the 6720s and they were both AR15-A4.

I think Colt started calling the 20” model the AR15-A4 after the 6720 came out.

That’s the only reason I was offering that information. I may be totally wrong in my thinking.
