Where is everyone purchasing their ammo cans from? Looking for new, but do not really see many good deals out there?

Thanks!

I bought 5 Stout Stuff 50 cal cans from Walmart they're actually pretty decent and only $9 each.

I submerged one for several minutes and it stayed sealed.  I'll buy more.

I was sad that PSA didn't do it last year on a few holidays, but they usually did a sale of 12 ammo cans for like $85 shipped. That's a hell of a deal. Otherwise, $9 at walmart will work. Better then paying $15-20.

Steel cans? Or plastic?  I would prefer to have steel cans if possible...

12 new, steel, 50 cal, believe Blackhawk Cans. Just like their Gold Dot 223 I don't think ammo cans will be on sale/in stock anymore...

Mark your calendar.  The past 2 or 3 years academy has done the chinese new 50 cal metal cans for 10 bucks and free shipping at 100 bucks.  I pay tax, so I call em $11 cans.

Costco often has a 30 cal in a 50 cal can, these tend to be the chinese cans and are slightly taller than regular surplus cans cause some folks say you can not put a 30cal can in a surplus 50 cal can, I have never tried so I don't know.

I bought some 20mm ammo cans used from sportsmans guide for 11 bucks to the door last year.  It was a one time sale, have not seem em repeat.

I have bought the new chinese cans from academy for 2 years before, did not buy any last year cause I bought the 20mm cans.

To some extent I am trying to position myself so if academy will do the sale this year I can just order in a few hundred bucks worth of cans.  I have been happy with how they pack em and they seem good to me.

Ive got two of the wally world cans, they are nice but sit taller than the rest of my cans - a hair more room, but doesn't stack tightly with my others
Even more affordable than the walmart ones are the ones from tractor supply co when they have them. 8$ for 50 cal and 6$ for 30 cal and are the same size as my milsurp cans. The last time I was at TSC they had some in realtree and textured toolbox paint if that is more your taste than OD green. I might grab 2 of the real tree units to store turkey shells and deer loads.

Picked up a bunch at our local TSC right after the first of the year. I like them, good solid cans and the different finish adds a bit of color to an otherwise bland pile of OD cans. Also the local Orscheln's had mil spec 50's on clearance right after Christmas. Snagged quite a few of those too. Think I've got about 20 empty ones, now just need to get them filled up!

I usually get grade 1 or grade 2 military surplus ammo cans from Midway. Their excellent for what I need.
They have sales on them as well and can catch free shipping.

I have got grade three, their not bad, a couple rust spots with good seals. I touch them up with some
light sand paper and primer/paint any rough spots. Never been more than a few. But I try to practice getting the best Mil-Surplus
they have in stock; budget permitting. Their priced by the grade of the surplus cans. But the grade 3's I've ever got
was because the size can I wanted and what is available.

I do have some Chinese cans; their seals is not a wide as the U.S. Mil-Surplus from what I can tell.

I've never used plastic cans, so cannot speak to those.

I like to buy Made-in-USA whenever I can and I don't mind paying a bit more to do so and I especially don't like to buy from Communist countries. That being said, it has been my experience that the Chinese cans are as good as the recent USA made ones and they have much better paint jobs. They are not as good as the older surplus ones that I bought back in the 70s and 80s. The older ones appear to be of thicker metal as they aren't nearly as flexible as either of the new ones. The paint on the older ones seems to be tougher and more resistant to damage than either of the newer ones. I've also noticed that the newer USA cans are frequently warped and wont sit flat when you stack them on top of other cans.

The blackhawk can you have to watch them I got some .30 cal that were US made but the .50's have this on their description
Brand: BLACKHAWK!
Country of Origin: Imported

Academy has some of the best looking cans I have seen, the seals are nice and tight and the paint is so smooth it looks like it was electrostatic applied and the stencil is a nice touch.
They are also available in 3 colors green~tan~black if you want to make sorting easier or ...

Harbor freight has some clones and they even cloned the stamp in the back lol.
HF cans

I've got to say of all the cans I own the Academy painted cans are the best! They are excellent build quality and they seal better than most of my mil-spec cans that I got from an Army family member.

I have a few dozen .50 Blackhawk cans and they're all made in USA. Blackhawk is owned by Vista outdoors and the cans are the same as you get from federal ammo.

Got mine from PSA when they ran dozen with free shipping deals. Also got a few from LA Police Gear when they had a sale, was around $12 each shipped.

I buy mine at a local surplus shop. .30's are $5 apiece, you pick 'em and clean 'em and .50's are $8, same deal. I usually take mine and lay them out on the driveway on a hot sunny day and blast the shit out of them with the pressure washer, then lube the seals with some silicone spray. Good to go.

I got some a few years ago in Oklahoma at a surplus store that was also a shooting range. Haven't needed more sense, if I buy any from here it will probably be because I want it not need. I want an old .45ACP ammo can for my .45acp ammo. One of my former boss's had one but wouldn't let it go. (an old veteran)
