I've looked more than a few times to see if any place is selling the Aimpoint M5S without the mount, but all I ever see available in that configuration is the M5. I know the M5S without the mount is listed as an option with it's own part number but I have never seen it available... So what's the deal???

I'd prefer the M5S over the M5, and I rather get it without the mount to save some money. I'd be replacing the factory mount as soon as I got the optic out of the box, so it would be a waste to get it with the mount.

You buy high end optics from Amazon? Seems risky.

I did check there though and didn't see what I was looking for.

same price as a non amazon vendor and another vendor that sells both online and amazon, but they both had the 5s with a mount

404 page on the Aimpoint shop. Looks like it's no longer available.

Call them up to ask what's up.

That's actually who I'd like to buy from, just wish they had the M5S without the mount.

Good friend of mine is an Authorized Aimpoint dealer, M5S without a mount is not an option on their product list.

well, guess I'm out of luck on that.

Wonder why they won't sell it without the mount...

Question was directed at OP, but thanks for the response. I figured it was probably only available to certain entities, like manufacturers (Larue and Scalarworks for example).
