Hello Gentlemen,

What is the best way to age, or make the black retro flat delta rings so they are grey?   I am looking to age them similar to the light grey and or worn upper receivers.

It's not age or wear that creates the grey color, it's the annodization.

Only way is to find a surplus one, re-annodize a black one grey, or paint it.

There were a couple threads a month ago about people artificially fading their black anodized lowers to make them look grey.

Wait an hour and they should swarm this thread.

There was bleach involved.

It took my black Brownells A1 lower from black to blue to blotchy purple to shiny.

I bought two so I have a black one and a shiny one now.

It would probably work on the slip rings too. Depends on the underlying color.

Brownells black has some sort of blue under the black to make black darker I assume.

Don't know what their gray ones would do with the same treatment.

I would try it but be prepared for failure. I was and now have a nice BFPU lower.
