I know Okay has the best reputation with GI metal mags... but the competition seems to be Ammunition Storage Components (ASC) and C Products Duramags...
Any significant differences in performance?? |

I wouldn’t own that other garbage for any reason.

Site VS Sight....it's a tough one....

The only commercial mags I’d use are Okay, D&H, Brownells, or Pmags.

If you happen to find a great deal on them, I say give them a try if you just need range mags. I have a small handful of them and have had no issues with them. However, they are usually the same price, if not more, than reputable (and previously USGI contracted) manufactures like D&H (formerly LaBelle), Okay, and Brownells.

I’ve had a few ASC mags, and they were complete junk. You’d think it would be pretty easy to make a reliable 10-rd mag, but ASC can’t....

Do yourself a favor and stick to Okay. Especially for the price. D&H can be found cheap and are good to go also, but I learned to just buy Okay and not worry about it anymore.

I was doing some reload drills today and grabbed a couple of C-Products mags to use since I don't care if they get beat up. One of the mags was a black one that I never used before that came with a rifle purchase. It would not drop free, so right into the garbage it went.
Therefore, I amend my previous claim of not experiencing problems with C-Products mags. ![]() |

On the AR-10 front, I’ve found the ASCs 20s to function fine, but they can overseat if inserted too hard.
That said, yeah...stick with Okay in 5.56. |
