Why have a much larger and heavier gun as compared to a pistol, but with a barrel shorter than even most compact pistols?

Use just a barrel nut and no handguard and they look kinda like a Hahn Solo blaster?

Well that certainly a bonus
To the guy above AR pistols are much more controllable than a compact pistol. Not every firearm I own needs to fit in my pocket. |

I wouldn't do it. not enough barrel to add a handguard. If you are going to add a muzzle device to make it longer, just use a 5" barrel to gain the muzzle velocity.
