How far behind the bolt stop does the bolt travel?

I had to put 2 quarters in my buffer tube. Haven't had a problem after that. Broke probably 4 prior. Locks back exactly when it hits full rear travel now. Once the bolt starts moving forward, that's a lot of mass to stop if it has any room to accelerate.

10 ounce buffer with a 14.5 ounce bolt is plenty heavy for a stock 5.56 Carbine spring. If it keeps breaking them give me a shout.....If there is any front to rear play on the bolt catch it is possible to shim the catch and stop the breakage if ditcching the 308 spring doesn't work
