I have an old Armalite A2 upper that I want to make into a Colt 723 Clone. I have a new DSA M-4 14.5” barrel, and obviously it has the M-4 barrel extension. Will I be able to build the clone without the upper having the feed ramps, or would it be an issue? I e-mailed JT, my go to guy, and he said he doesn’t do it. If I can use the upper without the feed ramps, screw it, just build it out, send to JT to pin and weld the flash hider, and not worry about. Also, I saw that some people have redone their uppers with the old Colt Gray using a moly resin finish. It has a grayish finish and want to keep it that way.  Can someone recommend that to me?

Thanks

What you described falls into the OK box.

Yep, I did just that, installed an M4 barrel on my old Colt A2 and it runs flawlessly

My A2 clone runs flawlessly, as well, with an M4 ramped barrel extension but non-ramped upper. I only shoot 55gr and 62 gr though it, though.
