So w/ PSAs fathers day deals and free shipping on 10+ I need to buy some ammo.

Problem is what to buy?  Two PSA uppers to feed, one 16" and irons, the other 20" and a big honkin' scope.  Both have 1/7 twist barrels.  Haven't really been able to do much real testing for accuracy on the scoped set up, and have only fired the iron set up to confirm function.

Choices are all Federal or Federal associated (American Eagle/Independence) either 55gr or 62gr.  Paper and plinking and a 8" gong at 200 yards.  Pretty sure all 4 will function fine, looking for best shot at having some accuracy

Mfr numbers are XM193 (55gr), AE223J (55gr), XM855I (62gr) and XM855 LC1 AC1

If you're really looking for accuracy, get some 75/77gr OTM as they'll play well with 1/7. Looking at $.50+/rd though.

If you're looking for just mil grade ammo that'll shoot decently, I'd opt for 55gr 193. 62gr m855 isn't as accurate due to the mild steel core not always being centered, causing inconsistency from round to round. Also more likely to icepick rather than yaw/tumble if you care about terminal performance.

Think American Eagle xm193 is going for about $.30/rd right now and would be a good choice. You could also go with Wolf Gold 223. It's Taiwanese and generally closer to like $.27-.28/rd. It's not quite as hot as 193 (maybe 50-100fps slower), but I find it groups a little better out of my rifles.

Among the 10+ free ship options I’m not sure what your best bet it. If you just want accuracy, even with your 1/7 twist barrels I’d try politer tipped ammo in the 40-60 grain range. These (from several manufacturers) are head and shoulders better at medium range accuracy from all my 1/7 guns.

Wolf Gold is generally more consistent than AE.

Since this came back to the top, thought I'd follow up ...

Ended up with 320 rounds of various things in 55gr and 62gr (and about to get some 70-someting stuff - I have 1:7 twist)

Just need to schedule a "me only - no kids!" range trip and do some accuracy testing, then I'll know what to buy a lot of ..

I see Midway has IMI 77 grain Razor Core on sale. 240 rounds for $119.99 and free shipping. That's a pretty good deal. A lots of people seem like it. It will stabilize just fine in a 1:7 barrel and should do better at distance than lighter bullets.
