So w/ PSAs fathers day deals and free shipping on 10+ I need to buy some ammo.
Problem is what to buy? Two PSA uppers to feed, one 16" and irons, the other 20" and a big honkin' scope. Both have 1/7 twist barrels. Haven't really been able to do much real testing for accuracy on the scoped set up, and have only fired the iron set up to confirm function.
Choices are all Federal or Federal associated (American Eagle/Independence) either 55gr or 62gr. Paper and plinking and a 8" gong at 200 yards. Pretty sure all 4 will function fine, looking for best shot at having some accuracy
Mfr numbers are XM193 (55gr), AE223J (55gr), XM855I (62gr) and XM855 LC1 AC1

Function with Fed. XM products has never been an issue for any of my rifles... however, accuracy and precision have been pretty dismal.
IMHO, your range time will be more productive ( from a trigger time aspect ) if you use mildly more expensive FMJ alternatives... you will be able to focus on your shooting skills, rathe then wondering if "you" missed the shot... or if the crappy accuracy of the ammo caused the miss.
As far as improving accuracy with FMJ'ish bullets... I have had great results with... ( Listed, in the order I would buy them )
1. MEN 56gr FMJ... a true Mil-spec 5.56 rd with an fragmenting "M193" bullet and awesome precision from all my 5.56 / .223 firearms. In my rifles ( YMMV ) groups sizes were almost twice as good.
2. PMC XTac...( both in 62gr and 55gr ) better precision then XM products in my firearms
3. GECO ... .223 55gr FMJ... great precision for me... but no proof the 55gr fragments well. IE ... this reminds me of the Swiss RUAG ammo of years past, great accuracy, horrible fragmentation.
