This may not be the right section but it is about an A2 flash hider (compensator). I've had a Mossberg 464 for a few years, it's one of my pig guns. Well its 30/30 and came an A2 FH on it from factory. Well I wanted to replace it with another muzzle device so I ordered one with 5/8x24 obviously right. So I removed he A2 and went to install the new one and it was way too big - WTF??? I vaguely remember reading somewhere years ago about 30 cal 1/2x28 devices and though that could be confusing and possibly dangerous. So I pulled out an A2 I know for a fact came off a 5.56 and it fit right on. WHAT is this trickery??

Anyone know what manufacturers offer .30 cal 1/2x28 muzzle devices so I can see what options are available?

There are a lot of 9mm and .350 Legend muzzle devices threaded for 1/2x28. A lot of them are just 5.56 devices bored out for 9mm.

Smith Enterprises has a 1/2x28 9mm Vortex for example.

Good call there.  I used a 1/2-36 9mm FH on a 7.62x39 build I did years ago.  It seemed like all the barrels available then were only using 1/2-36 threads.

OP: YHM may have a 1/2-28 .30 brake or FH you could use if you wanted to run a suppressor as well.

Rugged Suppressors makes one as well. My AK (7.62x39) was rethreaded to 1/2x28 and I use one of their flash hiders to shoot suppressed.

I have some griffin brakes on some 7.62 AKs that have been chopped and threaded 1/2-28.  Like they said, the ones for 9mm guns have the right thread pitch and a hole big enough for a .375 bullet.

YHM does.  I have one on my FN build.

Works with the YHM .30LT

I'll look into that as well.

Would have been much easier if they would have stuck with the standard.

Bingo.

Many moons ago, 6.5 Grendel barrels had 9/16-24 threads, and there were about 3 options for muzzle devices then.
