I am looking at my collection of parts and I have a 13 inch free float rail and a rifle length gas system barrel. A quick trial fit shows about 1/2 of the gas block will be out in front of the rail. Any issues otherwise?

I expect dimple of the barrel for the gas block setscrews would be a "must" instead of a "should." There is some possibility a side strike could move it where if it is fully shrouded by the handguard, that would be unlikely.

Virtually all issued military rifles (outside SOCOM) have a gas block that's not covered.  They're fine.

20" barrel with rifle gas.  Don't know the rail measurement, but I was worried about how it would look.  Looks fine to me, now I can reach my adjustment screw.

16in barrel, rifle gas, Odin adjustable gas block, ALG 13in V0-E EMR rail

Next to a 16in middy with a 15in handguard

Aesthetically, one of my favorite setups. Something about exposed gas blocks is really quite nice.

Good to go then. I need to grab a muzzle device and I think that is it.

Not all of them.  Early SPRs and the Mk12 they spawned weren't pinned, seem to do okay.

Any force strong enough to twist a set screw gas block isn't going to care if the barrel is dimpled or not.

Agreed.  The set screws impart a "dimple" on the barrel when tightened down.
