Trying to decide whether to mount my Inforce WML at 12 o'clock or 3 o'clock (I'm a lefty). Setup is a 10.3" barrel with a 9" pic rail. Also have a Sig Romeo5 XDR with the lower 1/3 mount.

I really like where the button falls perfectly under the thumb at the 12 o'clock, plus it keeps it ambidextrous for my wife who is a righty. I am losing 4" of sight radius since the front sight is behind the light, but I do still have 11.5" of sight radius.

At the 3 o'clock position I can still pretty easily activate the switch, it's just not perfectly aligned under my thumb like it is with 12 o'clock. Since the Inforce removes and installs so quickly, I could easily switch it to the 9 o'clock position for my wife. And with this position I can increase my sight radius to the max 15.5" by pushing the front sight out all the way to the end of my rail.

Help me decide - which of the two setups do you prefer, and what are other pros and cons?

Thanks

I like a 12 o’clock light if my rifle can support it. It allows for ambi activation as well as helps with potential splash issues when firing around a corner. One downside can be is barrel shadow, but with your barrel length it shouldn’t be an issue. I’d say set it up, test it out, and see if it is the right option for you.

Edit: Since your primary is a red dot, I wouldn’t get too wrapped up in the sight radius of your irons.

My tacticool Mini-14 has a TLR-1(c4) light in front of an EOTech 502.  No problems ime.

If 12:00 is an option, it's the answer.

Seems reasonable for home defense.

I shoot long guns lefty and this is my answer. It makes everything ambi for me as well as everyone else, it's almost always clear of barriers if my sights and bore are, and it adds no additional width to the gun. My wife and I can both shoot the same carbine with zero mods.

The more I work with and shoulder this setup the more I'm settled on going with it. The only "downside" I'm seeing is the front sight being behind the light, but that's only for aesthetic reasons.

Thanks man!

And nevermind those sights. They're getting replaced with MBUS Pro's soon

I generally don't even bother with BUIS anymore. I know, it's my funeral.

I don't either anymore on my primary rifle. I figure if the ACOG fails or is damaged to the point of not working I'm probably out of the fight anyway.

OP, I run my light at 12 o'clock.  Started doing this about a year ago.  I wont go back to another setup unless I just don't have an option.
