That was shot with 77gr SMK's over 23.5gr Varget in TAA brass with CCI 400 primers.

I need to try swapping the CCI 400's to BR4's or another bench rest primer. I'm told it will be more consistent in igniting Varget.

I also need to try my variant of AeroE's load which is 52gr SMK's over 27.0gr of RE15 with a BR4 primer.

The 10 shot group of 52SMK'S is on the left. 77gr SMK'S are on the right. I made one attempt with the 52 SMK'S, but my zero was about .15 mils off

The center must break the edge???

I though the ENTIRE bullet hole must be inside the quarter?
So I should be aiming at the edges??

Half or more of the bullet should be inside the quarter.

OK, I re read your first post.

as long as the bullet is in the quarter it counts, right? It can be past the edge, as long as the hole is still touching and it counts??

I thought all 10 shots must be 1 per quarter, completely inside the edges.

This is correct.  One of the reasons for this, is so that there is an even playing field among all calibers; that is, larger caliber bullets do not gain an unfair advantage.

Incorrect.

This counts . . .

This counts . . .

This does not count . . .

Originally Posted By donho00:

Incorrect.   One shot, and one shot only, is taken at a single quarter.   This is done for each of the 10, single quarters on the sheet of paper.  There can only be 10 bullet holes on the piece of paper at the end of the exercise.

...

This is a score of 5 out of 10 . . .

OK, understood. At least half the bullet hole MUST be inside the quarter.

This is going to be fun. Just need my parts to arrive, assemble, break in, sight in and give it a try.

thanks

I'm gonna have to do this!

I know both of my bolt action varmint guns can manage this easily (0.67 and .072 MOA @ 200 yards average), but I'm not sure I can pull off 10/10 with the ARs, even my bull barrel.  Be fun to try!

The fun part is learning that while you can "Lock yourself" in to shooting small groups... moving the point of aim 10 times will really be a challenge.

I just printed both versions

The single row is the correct size

The double row is smaller then a quarter?

Is that the bonus round?

The double-row of quarters target just printed perfectly for me.  Make sure you have page sizing set to "actual size" in Adobe Reader and give it a try again and let me know if it still doesn't print correctly for you.

Just returned from Range, First time shooting 100 with this AR. It was broken in and semi sighted in on the indoor 50yard.

Took 2-3 shots to get optic dialed in. Still trying dfferent ammo brands. I am 100% sure that Hornady 75gr match is crap.

IWI razorcore is good stuff
Black Hills 77 is fantastic
Black Hills 77 reman is pretty close if not identical
PPU 75 match is decent and for the price, its a great deal(still better then Hornady)
This is all very basic testing. Nothing like Molans test. and most of the results I already knew from his tests

I tried the single row target first. They printed exactly the size. I tried shooting 1 coin and then go shoot my Scar. or BS with my buddies in the next booth. and then go shoot another
Here was my issue. Normally I use spatter sight in targets and you can see POI. The dark grey quarter, I could not see hits. I could see misses. But I ended up shooting number 4, three times and ran out of rounds before the top
Totally my fault.  It was terrible anyways. besides the multiple hit coin, only 1 others

I practiced some more. did more of my amatuer ammo testing and I then decided to try the smaller double row. wind started to pick up. But I didnt think it would matter because of my heavy 77 grainers. It did make a difference. I missed the first 4 completely.
The wind dies down a little and I rushed through the rest. I thought I was doing good until I shanked one. I knew when I pulled it was shanked. I ended up with 4. 1 is questionable, but I think its half on.
I think it was ok, Especially since they were kind of smaller then the single row. No excuses, only myself to blame. but I cannot wait to try again.

Overall, for a new gun, I am happy with it. Hopefully I get back out there soon and try it again

What magnification is your Viper? I'm surprised you couldn't make out your holes.

One of my rifles has a dot for the aiming point. I felt it didn't stand out on the quarter, so I'm printing some with red circles overlaying the quarters.

Hopefully I'll have a Krieger 6.5 barrel to try pretty soon.

I will double check on adobe when I print some more.

the Viper is a 6x24. I can see clear bullet holes in my splatter targets. But my old eyes and the smaller 223 holes in the dark paper was hard to see for me.

I know the rifle is far more accurate then I am. I did rush more then I should. But I think that might comes from the semi.
When I shoot my bolt gun, you are forced to cycle the bolt. get field of view again. pre load bipod, steady the rear bag/monopod, breath, relax, squeeze

the AR platform, it was too easy to pull off the next shot. Does this make any sense? I am having a hard time explaining it. But I know next time I will take my time, or at least try

I just checked. I dont think this computer uses Adobe??

All my old files that were Adobe, are now Edge PDF files.
I downloaded Adobe and all those Edge PDF are now Adode PDF

But I printed another and its the same. Where can I change to print actual size? There are no options like that?

Hopefully this weekend I will finally get'er done.

Last weekend was spent mounting and sighting in the new scope. ( Sighted in for the Fed. 50gr TV )

The single group is 20rds rapid fire, 100yds benched, bagged, Remington 77gr , the shots otherwise ( left hand upper corner ) are Fed. Tipped Varmint 50gr also 100yds.

A quarter will just fit in each "white hole", surrounded by black outline, on green field.

Bump to the top of the forum.

It's slightly different depending upon the version of Adobe Reader, but under the print options select "page sizing" and then "actual size."

The diameterof a quater  is 0.955 inches

so you are looking at .9 MOA not .25 MOA
