Hmmmm Nice..... But, why would anyone need soooo many mags? After all... Firepower is not a thousand bullets whurling, towards the enemy/target... Firepower is a single well aimed bullet that, always hits the target and hits it true! Though I must admit, if I could have half as many of those mags pictured.... I probably would!?
I have soooo many so I wont ever have to buy them again. At $12 and cheaper you better stock up now. It has nothing to do with "firepower" |

Man, them bolt-action ARs is warpin' y'alls minds over thar! I've got about 25 AR mags. It helps to have a bunch when you blow thru 6 or 8 hundred rounds in a day-lot less loading on the range. Welcome to the board! I'd assume you've seen the UK Hometown forums, but if not, check 'em out. |

Joygasm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice collection, mine are all thermelts |

I've got 10 rifles that use this type of mag and only 20 mags. I'll feel better when I have at least 10 mags per rifle.

Ahhh, hello my dear Brit brother of the AR.... as I tell people around here who don't understand the basics of the freedoms some take for granted over on this side of the pond..... it's not about need... it about wants. I don't need an AR... I want one. I don't need 20 mags... I want them. It goes beyond just our Second Amendment rights.... it goes right into the basics of the Constitution itself.... "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." It makes me happy, and therefore aids in my pursuit. No one needs a motorcycle that can go 180 MPH when the speed limit is 75, no one needs a 50" widescreen plasma flatscreeen TV when they can watch a 21" tube TV, no one needs a Hummer with all the bells and whistles when they never drive on dirt. The lost goes on, and believe me I spout them off when confronted by people who say "You don't need that!". Now, don't get me wrong, I am not ranting at you...just explaining how I answer some of the people around here... many whom have the excessive "wants" of their own that they would never question their having without a "need" for them. Never argue "needs" with a liberal, they will lose most of the time...but they never fail to start it. No Expert |

Honestly, I really don't know for sure. I got two of them in the early 1990's from a close family friend who owned a gun store, and he claimed they were made for shipping to Vietnam near or at the time of the US pullout as part of a direct contract with South Vietnam. The other two I found on Gunbroker a couple of years ago from a guy in Texas. The truly unique thing about them is that the floorplates have no mention of the caliber, whereas every other Colt type mag I've seen will state the caliber. There was some controversy when I first posted pics of these mags a few years ago, with some claiming they were either counterfeit mags () or that the bags they are in were faked. I dispute the second claim outright (the family friend had them for many years before I got them, and at that time there was no money at all in mags so why fake them?) and if the mags are counterfeit then whoever made them did a hell of a job because they are EXACTLY like standard USGI mags. Maybe someone else will know something more definate?? Has anyone seen any like them? |

Wow. Someone was paying attention! I went back and looked - 4 30's and 1 20 are short a round! |

Mmmm... That's some good shiznit! Never was too keen on the fact that it's a brown nut ale though... -X |

Yep, somethin' not right...I worked for a while as an armorer, and we'd issue loaded mags. During turn-in, the quickest way to tell if one was missing was to look at which round was up top. My eyes are just naturally drawn to it now... |

Damn!
Ya know, when I first started visiting here, I was content with the idea of building an AR for shits-n-giggles, and maybe getting a few mags for fun times at the range. Then I pick up on all this chatter about VFGs, rails, lights, stocks, mags, ad nauseum, and my wallet quickly shrivels. And you guys always make very reasonable arguments for your positions! I mean, how can I argue against buying cheap magazines now rather than waiting til the next ban? Now, I'm gonna have to look out for more mags at the gunshow this weekend! |
Was thinking of calling for an Illinois group buy on the mags...but then figured....me and wizzo would have to come up with 500 bucks and change!!! Hehehehhee....
damn just gettin started in the AR world I only have 2 30's and 2 20's...... |
I only have: 1 40rder 23 30's and 10 20's. I keep telling myself to get more 20's, but I keep finding good deals on 30's and spending my money on those instead. WIZZO |
Well...uhhhh.........I ended up following my problem stated at the top of this page.
I just got 10 D&H 30rders for $110 at a gunshow this weekend Soooooooo...... 1 40rder 33 30's 10 20's WIZZO |

Here's mine. All are Steel SA80 mags. Tough as nails. Some started to rust slightly... so one can of Flat black rustoleum fixed that up. They are all still sitting there... waiting for their NEW Magpul burnt orange followers. I can't wait until they get here.
It was MUCH cheaper than any type of moly, teflon, or exotic finish. One can did them all. And am not concerned with what they look like... only that they are not rusting. Brand new mags can be purchased for around 10 bucks, and i was not about to spend half that on refinishing. |
You thank that bad I only have 20 30's and 2 20's. But I just bought my first ar about a month ago |
I have few.. and I live in Finland where mags are not cheap and easy to find. You just can´t have too many mags. The whole idea of someone having too many mags is wierd. http://sivut.koti.soon.fi/jonez/pics/lippaat2.jpg
One can never have too many normal capacity mags. I got 26, and my AR isn't even done being built. I got all the necessary parts (lower and such) so I don't have to worry about the next ban. I'll probably get another lower or 5 before I finish the first one.
Ok, which statement is true? You only have seven mags, or that you are from Texas? Can't both be true...Can it...... Man this is as embarrassing as my spelling..... Come on down to the Houston show and I will help you find some more. .-.. ..- -. -.-. .... --- -. -- . |
Man you guys are killing me with the porn. I wish I could have such a collection and if Illinois has their way I may lose the ones I have now.

I must say, they are not mine. That is a mag porn pic from some years ago. I forget which member here had them. I did have more mags than that (about 500) at the peak of the ban. I sold almost all of them to a Virginia gun shops at $19 each. I used the proft to buy a Kubota tractor. |
Damn......Thats a shiny sheckel for all those mags and a good way to motivate people to stock up on mags in case of another ban. |
Totally amazing, the packages are printed in vietnamese, it says "magazing, battle rifle m16, caliber 5.56mm, 30 rounds" Direct translation is a little odder "magazine ammo, rifle battle m16, ammo 5.56mm, 30 rounds ammo" Very Cool Pic! magz must be from the vietnam war era! hock.gif |
