I have looked all over this...

home.earthlink.net/~tportinga/specs.gif

...but didn't find the relavent dimension.  I even wonder about its source.  I understand you are talking about a drawing of the forging for compairsons sake.  Is there one available somewhere?

I also have that drawing and opened it up on ACAD.  If it's drawn to scale (which it looks like it is), the demension in questions measures 0.096".

... This issue came up at my "lower assy party" last Saturday night. The Colts. Tomix and Grizzys were measuring .105 and Ameetec was .082

... I have a 3D CAD parasolid model of an AR15 lower modeled from Colt data. I'll interrogate the web thickness and report back results.

Edit: Ok, I checked measurements and the drawing is NOT to scale...

... OK, I looked at the CAD model and here is what I got for a nominal (basic) value on web thicknesses in the areas of concern.

Hey Winston, how did you extrapolate the measurements? I found that the drawing (the PDF one) is not to scale (after measuring a few places and checking against the given measurement)...

If 0.0960 is correct, then with the deviation listed on the blueprint (+ or - 0.0075) the range would be  0.0885 to 0.1035....if the 0.0960 is correct, then that's funny cuz that would put my Bushmaster within spec (0.0890) and my Colt out of spec (0.0860)...

... gs430, I did not use a drawing, I used a three dimensional (3D) para-solid Computer Aided Design (CAD) model. A model that is available on this site (here: ZIP CAD file ) if you have the hardware to open the file

... The model was constructed with original Colt engineering loft data

I have 5 Mega lowers coming in next week...I have a good set of calipers too. I will give measurements for each of them when I get them.

Anybody got any Colt measurements?

Pre Ban Colt Sporter "Lightweight" = .085

Post Ban Colt Match Target Campetition "H-Bar" = .092

Seems in this case, they are making them BETTER than they used to..

See ya,
JMS

Old Colt SP1, '70s era, I think. .077 in the specified area. I've got probably 8-10k rounds through it, and I bought the gun well used, so probably 10-15k rds. No cracks, etc.
