What's the flip up doohickey thing that is on the front of the SIR top rail just behind the front sight and ahead of the laser designator?

View Quote

It is not a flip up but the PEQ-2 mount reversed in the 'using' position.
(ODD with the Attila on too...)

That's a great pic WES!  I think the NV scope is 4 power mounted via the ARMS #19 and their #11 stanag adaptor. It's either an Aquila from Litton or an NVEC Raptor NV scope, most likely NVEC as that is the NVEC new Atila laser. The PEQ-2 adaptor is prob. just there to show a couple of dif. ways to mount the dif. lasers/illuminators on the SIR for sniper work while looking thru a sniper grade NV optic.
All the SIR's Iv'e seen have many odd threaded holes along the sides that I'm told are for some spec electronic gear. So that device on the side of the rec. may be a power supply that somehow plugs into an internal wirering harnes. That would be neet as no more cables all over the place if that's what I'm looking at turns out to be.
Very good shootin, Jack

Wes--

Will the rifle length SIR clear the shaved gas block of my Bushy Dissipator? (Maybe I should just wait until I build up my other upper with the cut down 1:7 16" bbl--used to be a 20" gov. profile bbl--and use it with that one as there is NO intermediate gas block?)

I was hesitant in getting a rifle length SIR because I thought the TA31 would be up too high causing one to have to adopt a less than optimal cheek weld, but I guess this isn't so?

Thanks.

The sticker of the device says ARMS MGMT POWERED SYSTEM.

That's the reason why those little dovetail mounts found on the side of the ARMS SIR, #36 and #38 are designed for.

We need more ARMS pics from WES.

OK, I that looks like a device I remember seeing at a shot show meeting a couple/three years ago. That little window showed how much power remained in the batteries before they needed to be changed or recharged that were powering electronic's it was feeding.
Good shootin, Jack

HEEEY! I remember that thing now! Isn't that the system that was supposed to go with the Wilcox Ind/ARMS Electro-Swan Sleeve a few years ago? I had one of the Swan Sleeves for a while just cause it was a rarity, but ended up trading it for a colt lower.

Shut up, loser! [;)] You have regular Benelli M4's, full auto machine guns, silenced MP5's. Cry baby. DO you want everything? Living in NJ is so bad, I can't have silencers, flashhiders, short barrels, tele stocks, 30 round OR 20 round mags, and even I get some dumb rifle, there are no rifle ranges in Essex county, which really sucks. Oh well, pistols are nice.

What a cry baby! [;)]

Wes, I was trying to log in to the photo server to view your photo gallerey but had problems. I was wondering if you could provide some short directions?

I'd love to see your full AR15.com photo collection.

Thanks

Kevin,
Many times the PEQ2 is mounted with the NV's in any power, as the laser illuminator will allow you to see in shadows that you can't do normaly, not odd.

So do you figure a regular rifle SIR would work on an AR10 A4 20inch?

I'm sitting here thinking that I don't neccesarily HAVE to have the upper rail of the SIR completely cover the flattop.    If ARMS doesn't make an SIR for the 20inch AR10 I'm considering just getting an AR15 rifle length SIR.

Besides, getting the AR15 SIR I could share it between the 20inch AR10 A4 and my 20inch Bushmaster A3.

So....   Anybody care to guess?   Wes?

Looking at the pictures, that looks like an M model so that would mean the delta ring would have to go.   If I was gonna try to use one between both the AR15 and AR10 then it would have to be a C model so I could retain the use of the ordinary handguards...    Otherwise if they only come in M models, once on the AR10(if it fit) that's where it would stay.
