Here's the dumb question of the night...

Would an ACOG TA01 on an ARMS #19acog sit too high for a comfortable weld mounted on an ARMS #38?

techbrute,

one of my rifles has an arms38 and i have had the acog on top of that before. it is not the perfect set up. that would be to put the acog right on the flat top itself but it's not all that bad. a full butt stock helps too. after a while you kinda get use to it becasue it's not all that much higher, IMHO.
btw, it does help get the front site post out of the FOV though.

I have a ARMS #45 which is the same height as the #38 rail. I also use the #19s mount with a Ta31. So it is a very similar set up to what you are describing. And for the question you are asking, it might as well be identical.

The ACOG is sitting up a little high. People who are sensitive to small changes and differences, you may not like the height. If smalle changes dont bother you, its fine.

However, the only reason I have it up as high as it is is because I am using the SIR system. I believe the benefits and advantages to the SIR system makes the eadded height well worth it. If all you are using is a #38, I would just get rid of it. Can you tell me why you would want to keep the #38 instead of just removing it and mounting the optic direct to the flat top?

Hi new-arguy.  I figured you'd have a setup like this lying around somewhere.  [beer]

I currently have the #38 holding up a Leupold 3.5-10x40 M1 scope in #22 rings.  I wanted the ability to swap out the optics easily.  I have the SIR system on 2 other rifles.

You need some Parker Hale bipods to go with that nice SPR, Versa Pods on it is just wrong [:p]

Ducati,

Please describe what all you have on this rifle.  I love it! Just curious to know how you put it together.  I can pick out some of the stuff myself, but would appreciate a good break down of what you have there. [bounce]

Russell,
It started with an 18" SPR barrel from Wes at MSTN. Douglas Premium SS/ Compass Lake Engineering with 1:7 twist and CLE chamber. CLE provided a matched bolt (min. headspace). It is Kal-guarded black. Wes mounted the KAC low profile gas block and OPS Inc. 2-port comp. Gas tube is mil-spec 20" item. Upper receiver is from Fulton Armory. Front sight is KAC flip up and rear is KAC 600m BUIS. Charging handle is PRI Gas Buster. RAS is KAC FF. Bi-bod is Harris with KAC mounting stud. Car stock is VLTOR Clubfoot. Trigger is White Post/RRA 2 stage. Grip is Ergo LH. Ambi selector is DPMS. Mag catch is Norgon Ambi. Scope is Leupold 3.5x10-40 LR M1 in ARMS #35 Medium rings on ARM #35 base. Front sling mount is KAC.
I think that has most of it. The key is the barrel I got from Wes. It is amazing!

Actually I think that is USAF.  Looks like an A-10 to me, also the dude is wearing a blue belt.  ;-)

Uglygun,

Your AR10 in camo...Is that bowflage or a more permanent camo job?  I am thinking of doing a couple of my rifles in a camo and think your 10 looks pretty good.  Any additional info would be great.

Thanks
