I bought one in May for about $1400 or so...

I traded 2 guns plus $900 (out the door) for it.  On the receipt, he brought the Colt down from $1600 to $1400, and gave me like $580 in credit for my two handguns...or maybe I got more in credit.  Working backwards from memory is not wokring right...I should have paid about $100 in sales tax on a $1400 purchase...and I recall that both guns I traded were less than $600 trade credit...this math isn't working out right.

I'll have to find my receipt when I get home if you want an exact figure.  Doing the math assuming $580 in trade in credit means I paid $1383-ish plus tax for the Colt...

Here's what I traded:

Ruger SP101 .357mag with bobbed hammer (could not hit a barn with the 2 ton DAO trigger and 2" barrel) (paid $460 NEW for it)
Beretta PX4 9mm (bought used for $360 a year ago)

I said that I wanted to give him those two guns plus $900...and he went for it.

I guess it's not bad considering you're happy with thdeal and only you know the actual condition of the guns but personally I would have tried for $700 cash rather than $900.

Just picked up a NIB 6920 in the Mesquite Gun Show for $1298 after tax $1406. High? Yes, but it looks so good with the other 2 in my safe. I have not seen many NIB 6920's for less, so I actually thought I did pretty good.

At the same show I saw other 6920's for $1600, and even one for $1800... maybe it had a Gold lined barrel.

AR - Collection is now:
RRA Entry Tactical
S&W MP 15
Colt 6920

and a stripped S&W MP15 lower.

I'd say your safe is looking pretty nice! RRA ET was my first gun and first AR.

I just bought a 6920 on Tuesday.  NIB for $1250 otd.  Not from a dealer though.  Purchased from a guy on another forum.

Hell, I went to a gun show last weekend and they had 6940s NIB for $1500 (+ tax and transfer).  Wait it out, prices are going back to normal.

Does anyone have concerns about buying a 6920 sight unseen online?  I would stipulate that it would be from an authorized dealer and new in box.  I have heard people mention that they prefer to see the rifle first, and I feel the same way....but my local store still has them for $1,800 and I can get one for $500 less online.  Would Colt fix the rifle if something was misaligned, etc?  I am building my first AR, but seeing the Colt prices drop like they have I may buy one of those as well.

thanks
jeff

$1299 tag at local shop might be able to talk him down a little.

They are talking about wholesale prices, right?  I assume the dealers are going to make their money so I would be surprised if they go much below $1,250 or so.  That's just my guess though.

Both local shops here in the Seattle area had the LE 6920 for over $2,000. I guess keeping that on the back of my mind it makes spending $1499 + shipping + ffl not such a bad deal. Just feels a bit rotten seeing $400 that could have been better spent on either accessories or even ammo. Boo. ;-)

back in again, just picked mine up today sight unseen from Jensen Arms in CO.  the price was $1275 plus $25 to ship plus 3% for CC (and $25 for local transfer)  after cleaning it last night, the gun is fine, but tonight, I went to load my (2) Colt 20 rounders that came with it and 1 of them is all F-up, the feed lip is basically folded over to the middle of the mag, like someone dropped everything on it.  i can keep it for the spring, baseplate and follower, but the case is junk.

still, local shop is selling bushies for like $1275 and colts for like $1570

I was looking to see what Cabela's had in the Gun Store on-line a couple nights ago.  They are showing some 6920's at their Utah store.  I called there to talk to them about it because they noted that they had more than one and they were advertsied in an area which indicated that they were used.  They were listed for $1799/pc and it seemed strange to me that they had more than one.   I thought that I'd ask if they would move on the price since they are now going in the $1250-$1300 range and the guy told me that they were firm on the price.  I said that seemed high since prices were dropping and he proceeded to tell me that he had sold a couple of them for the $1799 in the last few days and some for over $3,000 a few months back.  They were supposedly marked as used because they came from "an agency" but were never fired and he feels that they look like new.  I decided not to debate the issue (about amount) anymore with him and ended the conversation.  I just couldn't believe it though.

Only thing I bought post-O was a case of ammo that was about $40 more than it should have been. Everything else, I just waited until it was in stock at normal prices.

I am finding a bunch of them available on Gunbroker and on the EE for $1,300 delivered or plus delivery.

Does anyone know if the 6920 has a mid-length gas system?

6920s are carbine gas systems, Colt doesn't make a mid-length.

I just bought one for $1300 delivered!!!  I was building my first AR, and have purchased a Noveske Barrel, lower and BCG, but since I saw the prices on the Colts, I thought this would make a good partner to my build.  This will be my first AR, since my build wont be done until later in the year.  Now I just need to figure out how to break the news to my wife

There were stacks and stacks of them at the Dallas Market Hall show. $1200 was the lowest price.
