Can someone explain the URG-I debacle? Is it the bent rail, from dropping the rifle with a MAWL attached, posted in the URG-I thread? I’m happy with the complete URG-I upper, with DD barrel, I purchased at launch. @AKSU Yes. Originally, URG-I's had a DD Mk12 gas block that is too big to fit comfortably under the Mk16 rail. Someone drop tested it with a MAWL attached over the gas block. Turns out if you drop a super slim rail with a chunky gas bock underneath and a 12oz LAM cantilevered off it, bad things happen. USASOC issues the URG-I with a very slim DD gas block and supposedly isn't having any issues. G$ also modified the inside corners of the pic rail with a radius to remove stress risers and strengthen the rail. |

They were probably anodized stripped and then re anodized. You can take a bit of fine scotch brite to em and they will smooth out.

I'm curious why some are calling Molon out on bad form for delivering a fair PSA to the rest of us. What's wrong with an honest review to give others a heads up? If the manufacturers don't want the bad press, then they should get off their ass and do better. Or if he has "unrealistic expectations," then the manufacturer should set the expectations properly on their website with a disclaimer e.g. "Due to extremely high demand and labor shortages during these times of political unrest, we are unable to ensure reasonable quality control and your product may have blemishes or defects." It's not fair that the burden should fall on the customer to protect the manufacturers' public reputation and therefore their financial well-being if the manufacturer isn't going to do the same and protect the customers' financial interest by ensuring they either receive a quality product or at the very least know ahead of time that they may receive a defective product after spending their hard-earned cash. IMHO, if the customer is not warned ahead of time, the expectation to receive a high quality product after paying a high-end price is perfectly reasonable.

If he’s gonna do a review, make it a review. Check straightness, barrel nut thread dimensions, Picatinny and Mlok slots in spec or not, you know, stuff that matters.
Whining about the aesthetics of the finish and ignoring the things that actually matter and crying about ‘I shoulda bought muh BCM stuff’ is for reddit trash. |

I needed to pound the barrel nut out from the other end using a delrin rod. Just because nobody posts dimensional inspections of rails it doesn’t make them irrelevant. I think people have unrealistic expectations of what tier one or whatever stuff they’re buying is supposed to look like. I don’t like to jump on bandwagons or be a fanboi of any brand, but the Geissele thing is unwarranted IMO. Yeah, it’s expensive, but if you don’t like the price, don’t buy it. If you’re all about looks, have everything Cerakoted. Saying Geissele’s quality is in the shitter because the ano didn’t look pretty enough without consideration for any other aspect of the product is noob level BS. Especially when the OP couldn’t even get the barrel nut out of the handguard and then said he liked his BCM handguard better. If G got the barrel nut in the handguard and then he had to sand down the bore to get it back in, something is wrong. That would warrant a call to Geissele and they would make it right. I’ve done enough business with them to be pretty confident that they’ll fix a problem. He does great accuracy evals but maybe building ARs isn’t his forte. I can’t shoot like Molon, but I’m a decent wrench and things look different to my eye. |

Did you reach out to them? What was their response. Every company has a lemon or two, given the sum total of how many rails/components they’re manufacturing it’s actually surprising there aren’t more. Why not see what they say or at least give them a chance to make it right?

I like how the default answer is to ask, or even demand in some cases for it to be returned or CS contacted.
There's no rule that says people complaining should have to do that first before posting their complaints about something. |

Some people make threads so they can vent, or make people aware about the things that they feel passionate about for it to matter to them. Speaking for myself, I'm not going to contact Geissele about my chalky Mk14 and would not make a thread about my personal experience. I was honestly confused as I had wondered if that was normal and was it just me. It's already assembled, I like how it feels with dryfire and worst case I get cerakoted. It's going to be function tested and zeroed if functional*. I honestly feel that function should matter more than form and is petty to demand the customer to contact and send back first before making a thread about it which would annoy me even more, because I'd like to finally shoot it this coming Sunday Gunday. *My Sionics barrel under the Mk14 has an offset gas port and barrel dimple underneath, so I need to make sure which is why I had mentioned function testing first which isn't Geissele related. Had to be said to prevent any confusion to anyone reading this. |

If OP took the time to go shoot his rifle, the chalkyness would disappear as it did on my Mk4 rifle. Instead he continues to complain.

Awhile back I got a new URGI that had a canted rail. I reached out to Geissele about it, and they told me to fix it myself.
I requested multiple times to send it in, and have them fix it, but they refused. Done with that company except for triggers. |

Surprised this is still in tech the way it's worded, comes across as a complaint thread rather than a review or tech content.

What's this Super Alignment Tab? Are we talking about the anti torqueing slots on both sides to keep the tube indexed properly to the upper, to prevent zero shifts to offsets, active aiming lasers, or irons?
