Hi Everyone . I thought I'd share some pictures of my latest personal builds here in the UK
One is my impression of an XM177 . This shoots really well and accurate to 300yrds on combat sights. Built on Brownells retro receivers and cerakoted sniper grey. Its as authentic as I can make it including original colt hand guard.
The M16A1 is also built on Brownells retro receivers but anodized grey . This one has all original furniture plus the correct original barrel profile .

You're running .22 WMR out to 300 yds?  Whose bolt/mags are you using?

Can you guys run .17 HMR/.17 WSM?

Welcome to ARFCOM.

We run way beyond 300 yrds but they still group well at 300 yrds . I use Guncraft Bolts and barrels and blackdog mags . The barrels are made by sassen and quite famous here in the UK for very accurate barrels.
We cant have .17hmr or any other calibres in semi auto . Only .22 rimfire so it include WMR . We can have any calibre in centre fire as long as it's manually operated . I have several AR's in .223/5.56 but they are straight pull side charging
I build these myself also

No one here in the USA makes a .22 wmr conversion kit. I really want one. Do they have a preferred gas system, barrel length and buffer type or does it just work naturally out of the box with every type?

Do those companies ship to the USA and can I have them legally shipped here?

Looks great, OP.

Wow, 300yds with the 22WMR, who’d a thunk?

Guncraft are looking to export to the states in the future , You would have to contact them. These are blowback design and not gas operated. There  are two buffer lengths , Rifle and carbine

Ray-Vin used to sell a .22 WMR upper, but I believe those have been discontinued.

He's retired, dammit, and as far as I know, nobody has picked that product up.

As a fan of the WMR, cool.  Thanks for sharing.

Externally it looks great.  Kind of idiotic gun law (not your fault,  I know) - it's ok to have one caliber out to 300m but not another a fraction of an inch and an ounce bigger.

Thanks for sharing

Nicely done, OP!

That’s a really great idea with .22 Mag!  Do you have mag capacity limits?  I don’t mean so sound like an ass, but i thought “scary military weapons of war” are off limits in tje UK?

.22 mag is an under-appreciated round, according to Bill Jordon.

Thanks for the info again!

Cheers, mate!

OP, if you have a 16" bbl, you can throw 30 grainers up around 2300 fps, getting 5.7x28mm pistol round performance.  Won't get 300 useful yards out of it, but a burglar would have a really bad day.

I remember when he had these for sale. I almost ordered one. What was different?

Whilst wandering the street (yes, street) of Mapledurham a few years ago, a  gentleman was patching a driveway and heard my son's and I discussing the movie "The Eagle Has Landed" ( which was partially filmed there). He struck up a conversation and we learned that he was a re-enactor for the 5th US Ranger Battalion.  He owns an M1 Garand modified to straight pull. He said he was limited on the amount of ammunition he could possess approximately 160 rounds. He had to get a sign off from a doctor once a year saying that he was mentally and physically capable of possessing such a firearm. He could only shoot it on Military ranges. Still, I suppose that is better than not being able to own a gun at all. One can do a lot of damage to occupying forces with a straight pull M1 and 160 rounds of .30-06.

No mag limits at all. And no calibre limits in  manually operated firearms
