With the rise in popularity recently of the 5.56/.223 soft point ammo because of its “barrier blind” performance, I was wondering...

Is there any reason the Wolf Mil Classic 55gr would not perform similarly? Of course I realize Wolf isnt the first name in consistancy. Its a little lighter than the .223 Federal Fusion, a little slower for sure. Almost positive it isn't bonded which is probably the biggest issue.

If it performs well enough as a self defense “barrier blind” load I would like to stock up on it, to augment my meager stock of 7n6.

The fact that it is inconsistant and not bonded kinda put me off using it as a SD round, but the gel tests I have seen have shown decent teminal performance despite it not having a bonded core.

Plenty of ammo in the past has been used for SD that never had a bonded core.

True, I was just wondering if anyone had seen anything discouraging via expirence hunting with the ammo. Function problems in certain rifles or poor terminal effects. Everything I have seen seems say theres no readon not to add this otion to the stockpile for a different cpabillity.

I've found Tula/Wolf .223 ammo to be under-powered compared to M193-spec ammo, but the 5.45 is another animal and is what it is.

The Wolf mil-spec 5.45 ammo SGAmmo sells appears to be full-powered for the round perhaps compared to other available 5.45 ammo.  Since the Golden Tiger ammo is likely gone the Wolf mil-spec is the best available stuff when SGA gets more in.

I am comfortable with either in my SAR2s, although I also use Tula & Silver Bear in them for practice.

I believe Robski at AKOU has done extensive tests so maybe check that site.
