I recently bought a couple of the East German wood lower hand guards and I noticed all of my handguards were missing this part.
Whats the point of having the steel reinforcement half ring installed on the lower handguards?  https://www.k-var.com/east-german-reinforcement-steel-for-wood-lower-handguard

I believe one benefit is that it makes the hand guard fit better. No movement when installed.
