Iv shot 100rds out of my new AK and I love it. Today at the range I noticed this spot in front of my gas tube and idonno what it is. it looks like either copper or rust, but I lube the hell out of it and iv only had it for less than a month. I know in the photo it looks like straight rust, but in person it was a little copper colored, and I just wasn't sure if this was a result of the gas, This is my first ak.

If you are shooting corrosive ammo, my guess is rust.

I cleaned mine with boiling water, if that helps.

Looks like rust.

What finish is the AK? It's possible that the finished over the rust and the finish is peeling in those spots.
