I have a Waffen Werks AK 74 I bought a few years back, and the buttstock has developed a few cracks. Is there a folding stock available which will mount directly to my gun?

I would prefer one which looks original to the type, preferably the metal triangle type.

Is your current buttstock a fixed stock?  Or you already have a folding stock?

Currently a fixed wood stock.

I'm interested in putting a folding stock on an AK as well.  I've been thinking about a tantal style wire stock because it looks like a direct swap over from a fixed stock.

I'm curious myself for answers on if there is an easy way it add a triangle stock to a previously fixed stock.

Yeah, one of those wire stocks would be great too.

The Romanian wire stocks, East German wire stocks, and similar will stick right in your rear trunnion and attach to the existing tang with two screws just like the wooden fixed stock you have.  To do a folding triangle stock will require something like an ACE block and folding mechanism or a Stormwerkz hinge.  Anything that says it will fit a stamped receiver AK with fixed stock trunnion should work.

AK stock adapter type 2 fits in where your wooden stock is now:  http://stormwerkz.com/stock-adapters/
The folding mechanism bolts to that:  http://stormwerkz.com/stock-folding-mechanisms/stock-folding-mechanism-standard/
The "skeleton stock" bolts to that hinge.  https://manticorearms.com/triangle-stock

You can obviously find these parts cheaper than my links - just giving you info for reference.

Thank you.

Edit; those stocks are marketed for AK 47. Will it work on a 74 receiver?

AKM and ak74 furniture should interchange (sans aks-74 style buttstocks).  Stamped receiver furniture should swap out for each other (maybe some minor fitting required).

You may also want to search for "bonesteel" if a Galil-type would be acceptable.

Mine looks good and locks up solid.
