Hey everyone,
While I love the fireballs my little 104UR throws, sometimes I think I'd like to tame that a bit in case I decide to shoot in low light or use it as a bedside gun. What would be a recommended device? I usually shoot it with no muzzle device or sometimes with the 104 booster, which still lights up my life. ![]() Pics because, well, we all like pics. ![]() ![]() Thanks, Hulley |

To me having a short barrel is the fun of the massive blast you get.

If you can find one, check out the TSS Fyrestryke. They make it for both 24mm and 14mm. I have both. Got them from AK-Stuff.com a while ago.

bulgy 4 piece and/or a suppressor has been the better of the options I've tried.
You can put a 74 brake on there and get bigger fire balls if ya want. |

Manticore night-shroud, best non brake I’ve found for the 24x1.5 threading.
Post a WTB ad on the EE here and AKfiles. Think I snagged mine for $45 iirc. ![]() The Krebs unit is nice too. Suppressor is always good option. ETA: I’ll send you the jmac brake to do some fireball testing if you want to post pics ![]() ETA2: they make this now, looks neat. |

Like any hobby you have to decide if the money is worth it for the net effect. I like it but like I said it's not necessarily better, it's just different IMO, the 4 piece is the best all around solution for an AKSU unless you have a need for suppression This is probably my favorite non suppressed, non night vision AKSU setup https://zenphotos.net/zenPhotos/File/Online/SVD/aKS74U/AKSU_Bulgy4_ZenitB11_T1_Left01.JPG View Quote Yeah, I don't really have a desire to suppress this one, I do have a suppressed SBR AR 11.5" that has nightstand duties but I much prefer to run un-suppressed mainly because I want the gun to stay light and maneuverable. A couple places I check are out of stock on the 4 piece Bulgy so I'll just have to keep looking. BTW, your set-up looks rad! I'm waiting on the RS regulate hand guard to come back in to add to mine. |

I’ll give a +1 to the Bulgarian 4-piece design and a dishonorable mention to this annoying bastard, the Arsenal KR-017.
My 106UR came with one. 5.56 out of short barrels is already loud but it really amped it up several levels. You can feel it in your sinuses. ![]() |

Does the Bulgy 4-section brake cut down muzzle jump?
I have a lighweight AR 7.5" I'd like to compensate but a muzzle brake (it works) however it literally throws redirected burning powder onto my forearm. |
|
|
It does, but mostly due to weight.

I've put mine on my 105, its not bad, it just looks off. I keep the 105 cone on mine and run the 4 piece on the AKSU

Ok, after starting with a new employer this week, I was finally able to make it to the range today.
The JMAC that Fin sent me, is freaking LOUD! 😂 I quickly had a crowd and you could feel the blast standing several feet behind whoever was shooting it (I let people shoot if they want, it’s a crowd pleaser). Not much as far as fireballs go. ![]() And here is a pic with the stock booster, way less blasty but the bigger fireballs. 😁 ![]() @Finslayer83 |
