So what exactly makes a shim a face mount shim?

I've been looking to add a JMAC Customs RRD-2C-14F-KM Muzzle Device to my Draco.  It's said that these have to be indexed using face mount shims.
So what makes a shim a face mount shim?  I can't just use shims I have on hand from other 5/8x24 muzzle devices?

A face mount shim will sit between the crown of your barrel and muzzle device.
