Is this an appropriate way to attach the forward part of the sling?

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure.  I'm an AR guy so it seems weird.

Yup.  Originally had mine with an IDF sling with the paracord looped through the front and rear attachments.  After switching out handguard and stock, now running Viking Tactics with QD.
